What does it look like?
Children with this condition have a complex set of symptoms related to problems with spatial processing, emotional control, interpersonal relationships (probably due to difficulties understanding body language, etc.), and math.

How common is it?
There is no good information on how many children and adults have NVLD (sometimes referred to as NLD).

What causes it?
There is no known cause for NVLD but it seems to be related to Asperger Syndrome, one of the Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDDs).  There is some evidence that there are right brain problems associated with the condition.

How long does it last?
Non-verbal learning disability is a lifelong condition.

What treatments are effective?
Non-verbal learning disability can be treated with strategies that address the problems that the child has and help to develop and nurture his/her strengths.
