What does it look like?
Children and adolescents with this condition are generally hostile and defiant. Their behaviour is characterized by:

  • Frequent loss of temper
  • Argumentativeness
  • Open defiance of adults’ requests or rules
  • Negativity and resentment
  • Spitefulness and vindictiveness
  • Blaming others for their own mistakes or behaviour
  • Deliberately annoying other people
  • Touchiness and irritability[1]
