About Homesickness

What causes it?
Children who have little experience being away from their family are prone to developing homesickness.
Homesickness in children can be related to a belief that homesickness is inevitable, being forced to be away rather than having been involved in the decision, or feeling unsure of how the parent will respond to their anxious feelings.
Sometimes feeling a general lack of control in their own life or feeling sad or depressed prior to being away from home also makes homesickness more likely in a child or teen.
