Peter Szatmari, MD, is a child psychiatrist and Director of the Offord Centre for Child Studies, a leader in the study of healthy child development and the influences that help and hinder the emotional and social well-being of children and youth. He is a professor, vice-chair of research, and head of the division of Child Psychiatry at McMaster University, where he holds the Chedoke Health Chair in Child Psychiatry. Dr. Szatmari is a leading expert in the study of autism and pervasive developmental disorders.
Kathryn Bennett, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at McMaster University, Hamilton. She is a core member of the Offord Centre for Child Studies, where her research focuses on factors that influence a child’s success in school and the role of knowledge transfer in child and youth mental health.
Khrista Boylan, MD, is a child psychiatrist specializing in the role of inattention (ADHD) and anxiety in mood disorders, specifically bipolar affective disorder. She is currently enrolled in McMaster University’s Clinician Investigator Program where she holds a Canadian Child Health Clinician Scientist Award for doctoral training.
Don Buchanan is the Coordinator, Child and Youth Health Partnership, at McMaster Children’s Hospital, Hamilton Health Sciences. He has been extensively involved in the development of Family Resource Centres at Hamilton Health Sciences, as well as developing the Community Education Service. He has an interest in helping families and patients learn more about their health and the problems that affect their emotional and social well-being.
Charles Cunningham, PhD, is a psychologist specializing in community-based parenting programs for parents of children with disruptive behaviour problems. He is a core member of the Offord Centre for Child Studies and a professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University, Hamilton, where he holds the Jack Laidlaw Chair in Patient-Centred Health Care.
Ellen Lipman, MD, is a child psychiatrist and core member of the Offord Centre for Child Studies, where she specializes in community interventions for single-parent families and disadvantaged children. She is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences and an associate member in the Department of Psychology at McMaster University, Hamilton.
Louis Schmidt, PhD, is a psychologist and an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at McMaster University, Hamilton. He is a core member of the Offord Centre for Child Studies, where he specializes in brain differences in anxious and aggressive children.
Tracy Vaillancourt, PhD, is a psychologist and a core member of the
Offord Centre for Child Studies. She is an assistant professor and
associate chair of Psychology at McMaster University, Hamilton. She is
an international expert on the effects of bullying and aggression on
child development, and is currently leading a community-wide effort to
develop new strategies to deal with this problem.
